May all that is unforgiven in you
Be released
May your fears yield
Their deepest tranquilities
May all that is unlived in you
Blossom into a future
Graced with love.

Commissariat d’Alejandro Carosso
Villa Atrata is pleased to extend carte blanche to Alejandro Carosso to curate our new exhibition, Liminal, Ma 間.
Liminal, Ma 間 will feature a selection of paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures by Pascal Aumaître, Philippe Bemberg, Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Sofia Fanego, Jean Fautrier, Yukio Fujimoto, Alison Granucci, Paul Klee, Jim Klosty, Wolfgang Laib, John Martin, Natalie McGrorty, Vamarie Nanej, Man Ray, Matthew Swann.
Liminal, Ma 間 explores the space between moments of transition, it is pause, silence, emptiness, stillness — allowing for potency, sound, form, breath. Drawing on the concept of “Ma” 間, a Japanese term for the interval or pause that gives form to time and space, the exhibition invites reflection on how simplicity provides lucidity. It is a meditation on thresholds: neither here nor there, but something quietly unfolding. In music, the “rest” or pause, creates tension, composition. Art forms allow for a reminder of this observance of the pause, awareness of the empty space which creates life.
